a new hoedown venue, Cowbell site facelift & new podcasts!

Can’t wait for the next Hoedown, as we celebrate Napes’s 50th with another night of great people and quality house music with Russ Marland on guest duties! Russ was co-resident at Oz (the first club I frequented in Blackpool) as well as the Hacienda & Out in the Sticks. Message me (see bottom of the page) for tickets!

After 8 years of sturdy service our Cowbell Radio website has finally had a facelift! Check it out, listen live, leave comments, requests, etc. This is the first of several changes and updates to Cowbell as we move from 24*7 streaming to targeted slots of high quality music. As well as our regular shows from our friends at Paper Records and NEIN Records I’ve started a weekly podcast to try and fit in all the amazing new music that is being released!

Me and Chinny will still be doing our regular shows together but they are less frequent now we live at opposite ends of the country so this is the best move for now. Check them out at my Mixcloud page or listen to a recent one here:

New Remix out now on emerald & doreen!

Big thanks to Go Satta for asking me back for a 3rd remix! Had a lot of fun making a DJ friendly of this great track and adding loads of Cowbell!! This is a wicked EP with 6 great remixes to cover all dancefloors, big love to the Emerald & Doreen label for more continued great underground music, you can buy it from this link!

Summer 19 - Alfresco, Ibiza, Beatherder, bandstand, seaman & more Cowbell!

Well that was another great Summer, Alfresco was class and looks in good shape for 2020! We had a magical few days at Pikes playing a few tunes and warming up for Crazy P along the way as part of a very special celebration!! Big love goes to Moz & SJ (and of course Sunny, pics below) for an awesome few days in the best location!

Beatherder was incredible this year, my 7th successive appearance at the amazing Perfumed Garden…big love to John Tree, Kath and the PG family for making it such a great place! Click on the link below to hear my set, the last hour of the opening night, it was dark, loud and filthy!! TURN IT UP!

We were also blessed with good weather for the annual Blackpool bandstand, thanks to the thousands who came and danced!

It was great to play a few local gigs as well as further afield (Hastings was a highlight) and I’m so happy that our beloved Cowbell Radio website has had a facelift and we’ve been able to start mobile broadcasts and a new podcast series (see the CHART tab). Head down for me now for a few months of radio and studio action (and some earlier nights)!

Alfresco!! Another wicked weekend in the woods!

Yet another amazing weekend courtesy of my partner in music Chinny (and the rest of the Alfresco family)! I was priviliged to play the first and last tunes of the weekend in the big tent, sharing the decks with legends along the way Pete Callard, Al MacKenzie (never easy following 2ManyDJs who rocked it) and Chinny himself! Highlights for me (as well as the above) were Erol Alkan, Tronik Youth, Zombies in Miami, Kuniyuki Takahashi, Man Power, John Tree and the always-cool VoxLow. I didn’t get a chance to see everyone as due to grafting but glad I caught them at least! My phone tells me I walked/danced for 32 miles in 3 days, I’d do it all again in a heartbeat x

feed your ed!

My first guest mix of 2019 is for the very talented Hutchinson Brothers on their ‘Feed Your Head’ radio show on Kane FM. It’s like a more polished version of Cowbell, the tunes (and audience) are very similar, but their show is much more professional! They air every 2nd Sunday from 11am to 1pm and my guest mix is on the link below…an hour of sleazy Sunday sounds ending with an exclusive version of my new remix for Go Satta! You can read my thoughts on the mix, music, how to pronounce my surname and the importance of eggs (seriously) via this link!

tenerife 2019 - more fun in the sun with BBR!!

Another great week in Tenerife was a great way to start the year, great to share the decks with legends Terry Farley and Lenny Fontana as well as a host of local Canarian talent and the boys from Good 2 Groove! We had such a blast together I’ve just done a little guest mix for their music blog! Check it out here, a nice little feature and a top show, big thanks to Scott and Wayne! Big love to JJ and all the Boogie bunker crew for making it happen, can’t wait for the next one! Check out the ‘LIVE’ tab on here for a live video of me at LePlaya!

2018 - the year in numbers

2018 EdMahonMusic j.001.jpeg

Well it’s been another top year, eventful, successful, challenging and very productive!

Instead of the usual gushing end-of-year cheese, the geek in me has racked up some numbers instead for this year.

Big thanks to everyone who tuned in, listened, turned up, bought tickets, shared, subscribed, enjoyed, danced, retweeted, booked me and generally made it another great year x

Next newsletter coming soon with a FREE DOWNLOAD of a track that’s had the most listens (and is unreleased as yet)!

Make sure you subscribe using the link at the bottom of this page!

My new remix of Go Satta’s “A real boy” is out now to buy on Emerald and Doreen records. Available at all online music sites from iTunes to Traxsource, go grab a copy! This is a blissed out 9-minute remix that has been soundtracking sunsets all Summer. The track lets the amazing original strings and pads breathe, taking inspiration from Massive Attack and Pachanga Boys along the way. It’s a great EP from an amazing label, click on the link to buy and listen to the rest of the release, I hope you enjoy!

As ever massive respect to my partner in crime Chinny and the gang for all their efforts making such an amazing party at Alfresco 2018!

from the woods to the canaries...

Straight after Alfresco it was off to Tenerife for more FUN IN THE SUN with the good people from Boogie Bunker Radio

Massive respect to JJ and the crew for organising a great week of music at some cool venues. There are some great DJs playing cool music on the island, see the posters below for some to keep an eye on. One stand-out for me was the amazing new venue Serena Finca...think Pikes meets DC10 meets Burning Man! If you go to Tenerife, go there! Day or night, just go and eat, drink, dance and lose yourself!! We WILL be back there in January so watch this space.
