Beatherder, another belting weekend of herding beats!

I had a great weekend at Beatherder once more…back for my 6th year DJing at the Perfumed Garden and The Church!

Such a cool place, friendly vibes and great to see so many music friends all in one place, highlights for me were Erol Alkan in the Fortress, Davos’s incredible new piano set, Chris Massey, Orbital, an impromptu singalong with Kevin Rowland and basically every single minute I spent in the crazy sweat box of The Church and its polar opposite, the ever-impressive Perfumed Garden!

I even managed to take a few pics this year, big thanks to John Tree and Debs as always for having me, get yourself involved in 2019 here!

HEATWAVE? WHAT HEATWAVE!!

Summer 2018, an absolute scorcher and a great summer of music (as well as footy)!

Personal DJ highlights were the festivals, including a debut at BESTIVAL as well as the regular slots at Alfresco & Beatherder and spending my birthday week in Tenerife with the Boogie Bunker Radio crew (special shouts to Pete Callard & JJ Williams for hospitality of the highest order).

Production wise it was great to feature on the Hot Digits compilation which topped the Juno Disco charts and featuring on the acclaimed "Nothing is Perfect" release from Field of Dreams was an honour!

Coming up between now and Xmas there are a load of local gigs (always a bonus) and another Alfresco Boat Party on the Thames, loads more Cowbell shows as well as remixes on some of my favourite labels including Emerald & Doreen, Eclectics and NEIN! Chuck in some guest mixes too and it's gonna be busy as usual!!

Big thanks to the kind person who added my remix of 'Nothing is Perfect' to their YouTube playlist...I've no idea how it all works but at least my lad thinks I'm cool now I'm on YouTube ;)

ALFRESCO EASTER WEEKENDER - MARSEILLES

26758213_1387956834661044_3029488904503669476_o.jpg

Alfresco Festival heads back to Marseille over the whole Easter weekend. Our hosts at La Dame Noir have invited us back and we'll be hosting and guesting at parties the whole weekend. We are also looking at booking a boat party on the Friday or Saturday whilst there.
I can't wait for this one, I'll be on bar music duties with Chinny warming up for some big hitters like Justin Robertson, Bird of Paradise and Logan Fisher! Keep an eye on the weekender page here for more info, or contact me on here for ticket info (top right of the website).

AIN’T NOTHING GOING ON BUT THE LENT!

With little time to detox after that start to 2018 the build up to Easter is looking even more exciting!

"I’M AN EDINBURGH MAN MYSELF" (MARK E SMITH 1957 - 2018)

On Saturday 24th the Alfresco Promo juggernaught rolls back in to my second city of Edinburgh and we bloody can’t wait to get back to Paradise Palms! I’ll be joined on the decks by Cowbell partner in crime and Mr. Alfresco, Chinny Davis as well as Nein Records wunderkind Jonah Considine.

Huge respect to Finitribe legend Davie Miller for having us back and introducing us to the phenomenon of Buckfast Daquiris!

SO MUCH FOR DRY JANUARY!

Well that was a pretty cool start to the year…following on from a couple of new Cowbell shows (see the CHART page) I was thrilled to be one of the first DJs on the decks at the new nightclub at Baha. Hats off to them for the work they have done in creating a beautiful 3-floored venue, I can’t praise it highly enough and can’t wait to be back throughout the year for a regular guest slot.

After an icy, foggy and snowy drive back early on the Sunday morning I was in Tenerife on the Monday for Fun In The Sun with my friends at Boogie Bunker Radio, and it certainly lived up to its name! A great week of gigs across some great venues, a couple of chilled afternoon slots and some more lively sets later on too, culminating in a great day at the very impressive Hard Rock Hotel Beach Club.

I’m happy to say it went that well that we’re all heading back at the start of June for another week of gigs, if you want to join us then just give me a shout.

Finally, a big shout to the team behind The Loft Party in Poulton too, great to see the Perfumed Garden re-imagined on our doorstep and hear some great underground dance music too. Once the next gig is announced it’ll be on here so keep checking in!

Edinburgh - no strings attached (december 2017)

Then it was off to Edinburgh on Cowbell duty. Chinny and I were royally looked after at the amazing Paradise Palms as we did a live broadcast (big thanks to Davie Miller for the Buckfast Daiquiris)! Then it was over to the Mash House warming up for Ivan Smagghe & Manfredas. Massive shout to the No Strings Attached boys Justin & Steve (left) as always. They put on such wicked nights, we can't wait for more fun over the wall in 2018!

We deliberately didn't record that broadcast (sometimes you've just got to be there) but we did record the next Cowbell show, our Festive 50! Always our most popular show of the year, the top 3 were from Pardon Moi, Field of Dreams and Tronik Youth (Rigopolar's remix of Tunnel of Hate). Thanks to all who voted, listen again here

ED GETS LOST IN TISNO! THE LOST DISCO FESTIVAL, CROATIA  18 - 21 AUGUST 2017

The folk behind Scotland's famed EDEN festival dipped their toes in the Adriatic Ocean this year to curate The Lost Disco Festival at 'The Garden' in Tisno.  Ed was invited to play two sets, an upbeat Friday night set on the Beach Stage to welcome the boat party revellers back on dry land, and a chill out Sunday morning set on the Pontoon to the early risers - or those still out after a mad one at Barbarella's Discotheque on Saturday night!  Sign up to our mailing list for news of next year's Lost Disco, early bird tickets and possibly a bit of a squeeze!  Enjoy the Beach Stage mix below, which features Ed's very own ED-it of Montana Sextet's 'Who Needs Enemies'.

BAHA Bowness - 29 JULY 2017

The man behind Bowness-on-Windermere's new super venue had one thing in mind when he set about launching his latest business venture in the busy lakeside town; to create a stage for music like no other in the area in a space where locals and tourists can come together (...is that two things?)   So BAHA opened its doors last weekend to a crowd of hand picked VIP guests including local business owners, press, and customers from the bustling Bowness community.  The three storey venue has been opulently adorned, yet leaves nothing to the imagination and although the second and third floors are yet to be revealed, the sensation suggests that BAHA will deliver the kind of accessible luxury that todays' discerning customer demands, every day.  It is no wonder that Ed was hand picked to play the opening night, a result of his unwavering commitment to exclusively deliver the most superior Vo-So house known humanity!   Ed is back at BAHA on Saturday 26th August, for guest list, to come along with us or more information, please get in touch.

Beat Herder Festival 14-16 july 2017.

The wild child of the festival fraternity returned to its hideout in the beautiful countryside of the Ribble Valley this July.  The organisers spend all year meticulously planning the event with unrivalled attention to detail.  The site is themed as The Parish of Beat-Herder, which offers endless wonderment at the creative mastery of the team.  Built from reclamation yards, the stages tend to be set around the kind of places you'd find in any village; the Working Mens' Club, automotive garage, barbers, hotels and the Parish Church offer support to the Main Stage whilst ravers cram the the raging Fortress like wild sardines!  For the fifth year running, Ed took his preachings to the pulpit at The Beach Herder Parish Church!  Soul-Sister Louise Spiteri provided the vocals for Ed's uplifting Disco House sermon bringing revellers to an almighty and 'un-repenting' climax on Saturday evening!

GRAEME PARK RADIO SHOW- 10 JUNE 2017

Theres no greater honour for a DJ turned producer than when one of your earliest and consistent inspirations, Hacienda Legend Graeme Park, plays your latest remix on his weekly radio podcast.  This is a hatrick for Ed as Parky previously played 'Get With You' on two consecutive shows and 'A Brighter Day' back in 2016.   Check out the second track in on his recent show for an exclusive first airing of the Ed Mahon remix of 1992 House classic 'Hey Whats Your Name' by Baby June.  The original artist was so chuffed with Ed's remix that he's decided on a 25th anniversary re-release.
